At first glance, it does not look that vanes
and dials can have any relation with the garden
décor as they are usually used at heights,
but it can give your garden décor a stylish
touch. In most of the homes, the wind vanes are
used such that they are visible from the sitting
place in the garden. If such a wind vane has been
used in the home and does not match with any of
the garden scheme, it may give an ugly look to
the hold atmosphere. On the other hand, the matching
vane with the landscape design changes the whole
impact of the scenario. Therefore, the choice
of vanes is very crucial. Same is the case with
the different types of dials used outdoor. If
these dials are elegant and matching with the
scheme, they can greatly improve the overall impact
of the outdoor landscape. These points are not
hidden from any designer. This is the reason that
variety of vanes and dials are now available in
the market in different colors, styles and other
variations.
If we talk about the weather vane, it is used
to find the wind direction. Nowadays a new trend
can be seen that weather vanes are also being
used for the décor purposes. Usually the
wind vane is used at heights where wind effect
is so strong that it can be easily shown by the
wind vane but now the poles have been introduced
which are used in the outdoor scheme and the stylish
wind vanes are used on them which enhance the
overall impact of the scenario. In these designs,
the effectiveness of the vane is maintained by
using the principle that a wind vane requires
a balance weight on its axis (it means that half
weight on one axis and rest on the other axis).
The most commonly used wind vanes are of cock
shape. The cock shape wind vanes are so much common
that wind vanes are often named as weather cocks.
Also as you hear the name of weather vane, a thought
of a cock on the roof top comes into the mind
of a person. The interference should be minimized
by fixing the wind vane at such a place where
no objects are their which hinder the free wind
reach the wind vane.
The introduction of self-steering wind vanes has
brought a new revolution in the wind vanes. The
main purpose of invention of self-steering wind
vane was for the boating and sailing purposes.
They are not used widely in the gardens or other
places but still sometimes they suit the décor
scheme of a garden. The wind detection is not
main purpose in that case.
When you see a wind vane, a question comes into
the mind that how to make a wind vane? Making
of wind vane is so much simple and even a kid
can develop a simple wind vane. The simple wind
vane can be developed using the tag board or manila
file folder. The other things you require are
the straight paper pins, plastic drinking straws,
pencil, rubber, glue and modeling clay. Cut the
arrow point and arrow scale according to the dimensions
of the vane. Cut the straw and put in on the arrow
point and tail. For the base purpose, the pencil
led should be lump into the modeling clay. Now
mark the direction on the paper plate using a
standard compass. Your own made vane is ready
for use. For different shapes and styled vanes
you need to match the balance of the vane.
